Ladies’ College rowers clinch Higgins Trophy
Ladies’ College regained the prestigious Marie Musaeus Higgins Trophy in fine style, powering to a dominant 35–17 victory over Musaeus College at the 20th LC–MC Annual Rowing Regatta, hosted by Musaeus College, held at the Colombo Rowing Club on the Beira Lake on Saturday.
Led by Jessica Sivapragasam with Sanindi De Silva as her deputy, Ladies’ College showed superb teamwork and determination to reclaim the title, winning the trophy for the 13th time in the history of this traditional rivalry.
Musaeus began brightly, capturing the ‘A’ Scull, ‘B’ Scull, ‘B’ Pair, and ‘B’ Double Scull events. But Ladies’ College soon found their rhythm and staged a strong comeback, sweeping through the team races that carried higher points.
The Colombo school’s powerful rowers went on to triumph in the ‘A’ Pair, ‘A’ Double Scull, Under-15 Four, Old Girls’ Four, ‘C’ Four, ‘B’ Four, and the prestigious ‘A’ Four/Boat Race, which sealed their overall victory to the delight of their supporters.
