Membership

The Sri Lanka Sports Journalists Association (SLSJA) warmly welcomes aspiring members who are committed to upholding the highest standards of sports journalism in the country. Membership is open to individuals who are engaged in sports reporting, commentary, photography, broadcasting, or any other recognized field of sports media.

  • Must be actively engaged in sports journalism in print, electronic, or digital media.
  • Should possess a recognized track record or affiliation with a reputed media organization.
  • Freelance journalists also considered, subject to proof of professional work in sports reporting.
  • Applicants must adhere to the ethics and values of journalism and respect the constitution of the SLSJA.
  • Any individual who involving in the field of sports media can apply Membership Application Process


1. Submission of Online Application – Applicants should fill out the official SLSJA Membership Application Form, available from the Association Secretariat or official website. Attached online application form.


2. Supporting Documents – Along with the application, the applicant provide:

  •  A brief professional profile
  •  A recommendation from an existing SLSJA member (if available).


3. Screening & Approval – The Executive Committee will review all applications and recommend approval or rejection.


4. Membership Fee – Upon approval, the applicant must pay the prescribed membership/annual fee.


5. Oath of Commitment – New members shall take an oath to uphold the values, integrity, and objectives of the Association.
Membership Categories

  • Full Member – For professional sports journalists with continuous engagement in the field.
  •  Associate Member – For part-time, freelance, or emerging journalists.
  • Honorary Member – For distinguished individuals who have significantly contributed to sports journalism.
